End of year - Time for a personality update?!

Hallo meine Lieben,
auf so fast jedem Blog lese ich im Moment einen ähnlichen Inhalt. Lauter Resumès über das Jahr 2013, was gut war, was nicht so toll war und dann kommt immer die große Reflexion, was habe ich daraus gelernt bzw. werde ich nun verändern.
Ich glaube Selbstreflexion ist eine sehr wichtige Fähigkeit um zu wachsen, allerdings nervt mich mittlerweile diese "Kultur", das man aus jedem Ereignis eine wichtige Lektion gelernt haben muss.

Ich schreibe als "Inbetweener" einen Fashion Blog und plädiere mit jedem Post für Body Acceptance und für die Liebe des eigenen Körpers, egal wie dieser (gerade) aussieht. Mein Körper ist also OK so wie er ist, aber mein Geist muss rastlos bleiben? Aus jedem Jahr etwas lernen, um sich so stetig zu verändern bzw. zu verbessern? Es ist als wären wir ständig mit Updates für unsere eigene Persönlichkeit beschäftig, um bloß nicht auf der alten, erfolgloseren, ärmeren, weniger gebildeten Version sitzen zu bleiben. Dieser Post ist wirklich nicht böse gemeint, denn ich bin ja kein Stück besser. Ich kann euch gar nicht sagen, wie oft ich mich den Satz: "Stillstand ist der Tod" selbst hab sagen hören. Allerdings frage ich mich auch: Ab wann ist es einfach zu viel mit dem ständigen Drang sich selbst verbesseren zu wollen?

right now on almost every blog you can read pretty similar content. It's the end of the year and people drawing conclusions of 2013. What was good, what was suboptimal and afterwards there is always the time for a reflection, what have I learnt from my mistakes retrospective respectively what will I change next year.

In my opinion self-reflection is a very important skill to grow personal, however I'm annoyed of this became kind of a "culture" nowadays, that you had to learn something important out of any random situation that happend in your life.

I'm an "inbetweener" writing a fashion blog and pretty much every post of mine preaches to love and accept every kind of body unconditional. So my body is OK, but my mind need to stay restless? Need to learn something valuable in every year passes by, to change for the better continuous? It's like we are constantly busy with updating our own personality, just to not remain seates on the older, poorer, less successful and educated version of ourselves. This post is no offense, because I'm not any better. I can't count the times, I heard myself saying: "Stagnation is simular to death!" But at the same time I'm really asking myself: At which point will our constantly drive to improve ourselves mentally become just to much?

SWAG - Secretly we are gay

Hallo meine Lieben,
ich musste so lachen, als mir zu einem meiner letzten Posts eine Leserin schrieb, das sie immer dachte das SWAG die Abkürzung für "Secretly we are gay" ist. Einmal schnell gegoogelt und es stimmt, es war ursprünglich ein Begriff aus der Schwulen-und Lesben-Szene der 1960er Jahre und des Weiteren steht die Abkürzung auch für "She wants a gentleman".

Zwei Sachen finde ich daran so witzig! Erstens: ist es doch echt erstaunlich, was wir alles so für Botschaften tragen oder auch Texte im Radio mitsingen, die uns gar nicht so bewusst sind. Und zweitens: Ich freue mir ein zweites Loch in den Ars..., dass all die kleinen intoleranten Möchtegerne-Bushido's, jetzt Kleidung oder Lieder mit der Botschaft SWAG in die Welt tragen, ohne wahrscheinlich wirklich zu wissen, wofür es mal stand. Das ist glaub ich, das erste Mal, dass aus vollkommener Unwissenheit nicht noch mehr Intoleranz entsteht. Ich finde es einfach super und witzig, denn wenn es etwas gibt worauf ich intolerant reagiere, dann ist es Intoleranz und Ungerechtigkeit.

I laughed my head off, when one of my lovely readers comment on one of my previous posts, that she always thought that SWAG is the shortcut for "Secretly we are gay". I immediately googled it and it's true it is a term from the gay scene of the 1960's and in addition also the shortcut for "She wants a gentleman!".

Two things about that really killed me! First of all, it's kind of surprisingly, what messages we are wearing or singing through song lyrics every day without being aware of it all the time. Secondly and even more funny to me is, that all this intolerant "Wannabe-Bad-Boy" are wearing the SWAG message, without knowing.
I think, that is the first time that perfect ignorance doesn't create even more or greater intolerance.

Glamour Shopping Week

Hallo meine Lieben,
die letzte Woche war eine gute für die Fashion-Welt und leider wieder mal eine schlechte für mein Portemonnaie. Während der Glamour Shopping Week fällt es noch schwerer sich zurückzuhalten. Aber ich bin nicht die Einzige, überall in der Stadt diese geilen Pärchen-Gespräche! Frau: "Ja, aber guck mal wie viel ich spare, wenn ich es jetzt kaufe!" Mann: "Schon mal überlegt wie viel du sparst, wenn du es gar nicht kaufst?" Mhhhhhhh.... NEIN ;-) Was habt Ihr euch gekauft?

this past week was a good one for every fashionista but a really poor one for my purse. During the Glamour Fashion Week it's even more difficult for me to contain myself. And it's not just me, everywhere in the city you can hear this kind of funny couple discussions! Woman: "Don't you get it, I can save so much money if I'm buying it now!" Man: "Have you ever thought about how much you can save if you aren't buying it at all, don't you get that?" Mhhhh, let me think about it...... NO ;-)
